Practitioner (P4P)

This course is designed for practising project managers, project leaders and project coordinators who wish to gain formal recognition of their skills by taking both the PRINCE2™ examinations.

This course will provide you with a complete theoretical and practical understanding of the PRINCE2 project management method and enables you to apply PRINCE2 to business scenarios.

Following the standard syllabus issued by the PRINCE2 Examinations Board, it focuses on the PRINCE2 process model and how this might be applied pragmatically to real projects.

THE BENEFITS

By the end of this course you’ll be able to:

  • Understand the need for project management and how PRINCE2 meets that requirement
  • Understand the PRINCE2 process model and apply the PRINCE2 processes
  • Prepare project plans using product based planning techniques and undertake risk analysis and risk management for the project
  • Prepare information for inclusion in a Project Initiation Document
  • Understand and apply techniques for the management of product development, quality control and change control
  • Take the PRINCE2 Foundation and Practitioner examination papers.

COURSE CONTENT

The course will cover, in detail:

  • Each of the 8 PRINCE2 Processes, 8 Components and 3 Techniques described in the manual
  • Various case studies, with individual and syndicate work being used to apply the principles and techniques being taught
  • ample examination papers, hints, tips and exam preparation
  • PRINCE2 Foundation and PRINCE2 Practitioners exam

THE EXAMS

Foundation

  • Multiple choice paper
  • Closed book (i.e. no other material allowed in the classroom)
  • A total of 75 questions, need 38 marks to pass.
Practitioner

This exam now follows the new Practitioner Objective Test format which came into play on September 1st 2007, meaning an end to the open-ended essay style questions.

  • Multiple choice in format, rather than being fully written, but equally challenging and certainly not trivial
  • 9 questions, with a scenario background and appendices
  • Each of the 9 questions is worth 40 marks
  • A total of 360 marks can be awarded, 180 is needed to pass the Practitioner exam
  • 3 hour exam in which you can refer to your PRINCE2 manual – but nothing else!
  • Some questions attract negative marking!
