About Eastleigh


Eastleigh is situated between Winchester and Southampton. It is the segment of South Hampshire. The railways impact the growth of the city. Nowadays, the growth of businesses takes place. This city is situated on River Itchen. This river is the chalk streams for fishing.


Since Roman times, a settlement existed here. Since 932 AD, the ‘East Leah’ village existed. The evidence for the settlement of the city was the period when King Athelstan allotted land to military aid. The Domesday Book has information about the settlement of Eastleigh known as ‘Estelle’.


 Eastleigh has educational colleges such as Eastleigh College and Barton Peveril Sixth Form College. It contains secondary schools such as Crestwood College and primary schools such as Cherbourg Primary School and Crescent Primary School.


In 1930, Emmanuel Baptist Church was established in Desborough Mission Hall located at Desborough Road.


In Conference Premier, Eastleigh F.C. is the famous senior football team playing since 2014-15. It enters FA Cup as well as FA Trophy.

Solent Kestrels is the basketball club. This club contests in English Basketball Association Division 1 which is the second highest played sport in the country. In 2015-16, the team was endorsed by Division 1 by winning the championship of Divison2.

Eastleigh Ladies Hockey Club:

It is situated in South Hampshire. This Hampshire has 2 teams by which one team is playing floodlit and other playing indoor games on weekends.


The United kingdom’s 20th largest airport is located in Eastleigh. Southampton Airport is furnished by the railway station.

The Swan Centre:

This centre was opened in 1989 and constructed in heart of grid iron road and Market Street. This centre has French style café.

Notable people:

The famous people are Christabel Leighton porter, the model for the cartoon character and Benny Hill, a Woolworth on Leigh road.
