Wrexham located between the Welsh mountains and the lower Dee Valley alongside the border with England is the biggest town in the north of Wales. It is an administrative, commercial, retail and educational centre. Earlier the town was a part of Denbighshire, but in  1974 it fell under Clwyd . Since 1996 it has been the centre of the Wrexham County Borough. According to the 2011 Census, Wrexham had a population of 61,603.m

Wrexham has existed since the prehistoric times somewhere between 8000 – 4300 BC. Excavations at some sites in Wrexham reveal that the people used agriculture for their living and even traded with the Romans. From the 8^th  to the 10^th Century, Wrexham was ruled by the Anglo-Saxons.

With the death of Llywelyn ap Gruffudd in 1282 in the independence struggle, Wrexham fell to the semi-independent Marcher lordship of Bromfield and Yale. Thereafter its importance was on the rise throughout the Middle Ages as it became a centre for the exchange of the produce of the Dee valley and Denbighshire uplands. Also,  iron and lead were being mined locally.

 From 1327 onwards, the town came to be called as a market town. Towards the fag end of the 14^th Century, Wrexham was supporting dancers, goldsmiths and other wealthy people who wanted to earn their living in Wrexham.

Tourism

 Wrexham held the National Eisteddfod of Wales in 2011.

• Wales Comic Con – A congregation of actors, artists, writers and sports personalities who meet here each year for the sake of their fans from around the globe.
• Giles Church – Known as One of the Seven Wonders of Wales it is also the burial place of Elihu Yale (American merchant, philanthropist and slave trader, President of the East India Company settlement in Fort St. George, at Madras, and a benefactor of the Collegiate School in the Colony of Connecticut)
• Racecourse Ground –World's oldest international stadium is home to Wrexham F.C.
• Techniquest Glynd?r – Science discovery centre.
• Wrexham County Museum – Museum of local history.
• Saith Seren ("Seven Stars") – The Welsh centre provides a bilingual environment where one can entertain with locally sourced food, a bar, live entertainment, meeting rooms and other facilities.
